This year the Foundation will be offering the chance for proud parents, grandparents, friends, and/or teachers, to congratulate graduating 5th graders on a 16ft. Movie screen on Movie night, Thursday, May 21st.
The cost is $5 and can include a picture submitted by you along with your special message. We will display your message on the movie screen and it will cycle through before the showing of the movie. This would be a fantastic opportunity to recognize your graduating 5th grader and will be a night for them to remember from Eastvalley.
Order your announcement now! For more information, please contact Liz Gainsford: lgainsford@bellsouth.net

The Eastvalley Eagle Chorus just won Outstanding Musical Performance at the Broadway Junior Theater Festival!
That's right--even though we were the youngest group in the competition, we worked together as a team and rose to the occasion. It wasn't easy to beat all those high school and middle school kids from all over the country (and Canada), but we did it! Be proud of your kids! We are!
The trophy will be on display in the music room. A special thank-you goes out to Mrs. Steinheimer and Dr. Cunningham for co-directing the show with me, and most of all, thanks to all the chaperons who helped keep our kids safe this weekend! Thanks for your support. Our next performance is on February 5th at the PTA meeting. See you there!

Dear Eastvalley Families,
It is our ultimate responsibility to keep your child(ren) safe here at Eastvalley and we take that job very seriously. We also need to protect instructional time from interruptions as much as possible. In order to make that happen, we will be making some changes to procedures beginning January 6, 2009. Please read the procedures below so that you can be clear on the new guidelines.
Please do not ask the office staff to make an exception for your child(ren) as they are doing their best to keep each and every child safe. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding these new procedures.
Thank you for understanding the need to minimize instructional interruptions and keep all students safe while in our care. We appreciate those of you who volunteer in our building and in our classrooms. The new procedures help us to know who is present in our building at all times. Have a wonderful new year!

Cobb County Schools scored well above the national average at every grade level on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS), but the 2008 composite scores declined slightly from last year. The school district administered the ITBS to students in grades 3, 5 and 8 in September. Cobb third graders had a composite score average of 70th percentile, which means they scored equal to or better than 70 percent of all other third grade students who participated in the ITBS nationwide, Eastvalley's third graders scored slightly higher. Composite scores for Cobb fifth graders ranked in the 67th percentile nationally, and Eastvalley scores met this average. Click here to read more about ITBS Results.
The Greatest Gains award is given to schools that showed greatest improvement in CRCT or GHSGT scores and had a significant percentage of students exceeding standards. The Cobb County winners are:
PLATINUM: Durham Middle, Eastvalley Elementary
GOLD: McClesky Middle
SILVER: Hillgrove High, Daniell Middle, Austell Primary
The school recongitions are part of the state's release of the 2007-09 K-12 Report Card. Additional information is available at The Governor's Office for Student Achievement web site.
There are multiple, no-cost ways to earn money for Eastvalley that involve your regular shopping. What could be easier? You don't make any additional donations; you don't spend any extra money AND the money you do spend works for Eastvalley and your children. It's simple and it's all for the kids!!
This year the PTA and the Eastvalley Foundation are collaborating in an effort to continue to raise fundsfor our school. We have put up “The Giving Tree” in the main hallway to give you an opportunity todisplay your generosity. The mission for these donations is to help keep Eastvalley moving forward. One of our goals this year is to provide our children with new playgrounds. We recognize this is a big project but, we also believe our PTA motto of "Small School, Big Heart". We know with the caring hearts and generous support of our wonderful Eastvalley parents, that TOGETHER we can make this possible.
Please consider making a donation to our school and make this a FANTASTIC year for Eastvalley!!! With your support, we can make a BIG difference for our children!
Eastvalley's Relay for Life team will be raffling off a parking space each month for $1 per ticket The drawing will take place on the last day of the month and the winner will keep the parking space designated by the sign for the entire next month. Raffle tickets will be sold the final week of each month by Janet Steinheimer. Our brand new recycling center has been established to the left of the school near the cafeteria. We invite all Eastvalley families to bring their cans, plastics, drink pouches and paper to the center. PTA does earn some money from the recycling company, so the more items, the better.
