Boosterthon Fun Run Results

Funrunlogo Thank you Eastvalley!

Our Boosterthon Fun Run was a huge success! Some interesting facts from this event at our school :

  • While the Fun Run involved EVERY CHILD regardless of financial participation, 75% of Eastvalley students participated financially in the program!
  • Pledges were received from all 50 states and 19 different countries!  Be on the lookout for Ms. Wacker’s special reward for meeting the “50 State Principal’s Challenge” on Friday, April 3rd!
  • As a whole, the students averaged 32 laps at the Fun Run (about 2 miles)! And a total of 16,920 laps were run! (almost 1,000 miles)!
  • If we collect 100% of our pledges, Eastvalley’s net profit will be nearly $24,000! …an absolutely amazing and unparalleled feat.Ptasmall2_2

Eastvalley Eagle Chorus Wins an Award!

TrophyThe Eastvalley Eagle Chorus just won Outstanding Musical Performance at the Broadway Junior Theater Festival!

That's right--even though we were the youngest group in the competition, we worked together as a team and rose to the occasion. It wasn't easy to beat all those high school and middle school kids from all over the country (and Canada), but we did it! Be proud of your kids! We are!

The trophy will be on display in the music room. A special thank-you goes out to Mrs. Steinheimer and Dr. Cunningham for co-directing the show with me, and most of all, thanks to all the chaperons who helped keep our kids safe this weekend! Thanks for your support.  Our next performance is on February 5th at the PTA meeting. See you there!

Important Guidelines

PTA Theme

Dear Eastvalley Families,

It is our ultimate responsibility to keep your child(ren) safe here at Eastvalley and we take that job very seriously.  We also need to protect instructional time from interruptions as much as possible.  In order to make that happen, we will be making some changes to procedures beginning January 6, 2009. Please read the procedures below so that you can be clear on the new guidelines.

  1. Any time you come into Eastvalley you must go to the office to sign in and get a visitor’s pass to wear.  This includes if you are walking your child to the classroom in the morning before the tardy bell.  We must have an accurate account for everyone who is in our building at all times.
  2. If you bring your child tardy to school, you must come in to the building to sign them in.  Do not drop them off and let them walk in by themselves.  You may not walk them to class after the tardy bell rings as instruction will have begun.
  3. The sign in sheet will now be in front of the secretary’s desk.  Sign in on the sheet and the secretary will give you a visitor’s pass.  This is to ensure that everyone in our building has signed in appropriately.
  4. Dismissal plans need to be made with your child(ren) before they come to school.  If you must change them during the day, please call 770-578-7214 or fax a change to 770-578-7216 prior to 1:00 p.m.  We will no longer take dismissal changes after 1:00.
  5. We will not dismiss students from the office from 1:45-2:30 each day.  You may pick up children prior to 1:45 by going to the office and signing them out.  Remember that instruction continues until 2:15 so they will be missing class if you check them out early.  Please try to make appointments later in the afternoon so that they do not miss instruction.

Please do not ask the office staff to make an exception for your child(ren) as they are doing their best to keep each and every child safe.  Please contact me if you have any questions regarding these new procedures.

Thank you for understanding the need to minimize instructional interruptions and keep all students safe while in our care.  We appreciate those of you who volunteer in our building and in our classrooms.  The new procedures help us to know who is present in our building at all times.  Have a wonderful new year!

ITBS Scores

Test   Cobb County Schools scored well above the national average at every grade level on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS), but the 2008 composite scores declined slightly from last year. The school district administered the ITBS to students in grades 3, 5 and 8 in September. Cobb third graders had a composite score average of 70th percentile, which means they scored equal to or better than 70 percent of all other third grade students who participated in the ITBS nationwide, Eastvalley's third graders scored slightly higher. Composite scores for Cobb fifth graders ranked in the 67th percentile nationally, and Eastvalley scores met this average. Click here to read more about ITBS Results.

The Giving Tree

GivingtreeThis year the PTA and the Eastvalley Foundation are collaborating in an effort to continue to raise fundsfor our school. We have put up “The Giving Tree” in the main hallway to give you an opportunity todisplay your generosity. The mission for these donations is to help keep Eastvalley moving forward. One of our goals this year is to provide our children with new playgrounds. We recognize this is a big project but, we also believe our PTA motto of "Small School, Big Heart". We know with the caring hearts and generous support of our wonderful Eastvalley parents, that TOGETHER we can make this possible.

Please consider making a donation to our school and make this a FANTASTIC year for Eastvalley!!!  With your support, we can make a BIG difference for our children!
