October 25th-29th
This October will mark the anniversary of Red Ribbon Week. In 1985, drug traffickers in Mexico killed Federal drug enforcement agent Enrique Camarena. In response to his death, angered parents across the country began wearing Red Ribbons to symbolize their commitment toward the creation of a drug free America. Congress officially proclaimed the first National Red Ribbon Week, October 23-31, 1988. The Red Ribbon has now become a symbol for the drug free movement.
Our students will be recognizing Red Ribbon Week with a week of lessons presented by the counselors on drug prevention and special spirit days and activities. We will have a special assembly. Morning announcements will also deliver a message about healthy choices.
The following schedule gives you an idea of what we will be doing throughout the week.
