Upcoming Dates

Winter Break is next week, February 21 - 25.  Have a great break and come back rested and ready to work.  Wednesday, March 2nd will be the Georgia Writing Assessment.  Remember to get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast before school.  Please do your best to arrive on time and not be absent.

Family Math Night

Join Eastvalley families anytime from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, March 1st at the Kroger- East Lake Shopping Center for a night of fun math activities.  Students will solve math problems and receive a free homework pass as a reward.  Please fill out the form and send it in with your child.  Any questions, please contact Tammy Ross sg1ross@bellsouth.net

Spring Pictures

Get ready for student pictures!!  Tuesday, March 8th spring pictures will be taken.  So get all prettied up and put on your best smile.

Book Fair

Support Eastvalley Media Center!!  The book fair will be open on Monday, March 7th - Thursday, March 10th from 7:30 - 3:30.  Thursday, March 10th will have extended hours from 5-7 pm.  All checks must be written for the exact amount for purchases.  Volunteers are needed.  If you are interested, please contact Cindy Moran at whmracer99@aol.com

Mother/Son Bowling

Strike!!!  Can you hear the thunderous clap of the pins as they are pummeled by bowling balls?  Join us Friday, March 4th from 6:30-8:30 at the Brunswick Lanes on Delk Road.  The cost is $13 per person and includes 2 games, shoes, pizza, and salad.  What a great deal!!!  Trophies will go to the high scoring mother/son team in each grade level.

Cobb County Board of Education Calendar Survey
At its February 17, 2011 meeting, the Board of Education will consider changing the upcoming school-year calendars for 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. This survey will provide participants a choice of three calendar options for the 2011-2012 school year and will ask you to select your preference. Your choice for 2011-2012 also will indicate a preference for a similar calendar with corresponding dates for the 2012-2013 school year. This survey will open on Friday, February 11, 2011, and will close at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011. February is upon us!!

Valentine's Day

On Monday, February 14th the students will have the opportunity to exchange Valentines with others in the class.  I sent home a list with student names in this week's Tuesday Tracker.  If your child participates in exchanging Valentines, please make sure they bring one for everyone in the classroom.  I don't want any feelings hurt on this wonderful day filled with Love and Happiness!!!  This week students can also purchase carnations to give to their Sweeties or friends!!!  The cost is $1.25 for 1 carnation or 5 carnations for $5.00.  What a deal!!  Carnations will be delivered on Monday, February 14th.

Progress Reports

Progress reports will go home next Tuesday.  Please be on the look out and let me know if you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress.

Science Fair Projects

I hope everyone has been working on their Science Fair Projects.  This is a mandatory assignment and is due on Monday, March 7th.  Mrs. Cordova has shown the students several sample projects in class, so your child knows what is expected of them.  Mrs. Cordova is available if you have any questions.

Looking for something fun to do..... East Marietta Library is offering free programs.

Board it Up! on February 15th from 6 - 7 pm  Read Mrs. Kormel is not Normal before February 15^th and join the fun of a board game where you are the game piece!

Mad Scientist!  on February 22nd from 6 - 7 pm  Experiments, Experiments, Experiments, and a whole lot of fun!
