Can you believe the school year is almost over? Time sure has flown by! Your babies will soon be moving on to Middle School. Thank you for all your support throughout the year, we couldn't have accomplished anything without you.
If you have not returned the yellow East Cobb Middle school registration form, please do this as soon as possible. This will make the transition into East Cobb much easier next year.
Below is a copy of the email that was sent out by Mrs. Larsen of upcoming events. We are looking forward to seeing everyone that can make it at Eastvalley.
Thursday, May 12 – Field Day
Field Day for the Fifth Grade will be from 8:15 to 11:00 AM. Coach Albert sent home a volunteer form a few weeks ago. If you have misplaced it, and are interested in volunteering, please Coach Albert or Sue Larsen know. If you are unable to volunteer, but would still like to attend Field Day, please feel free to stop by during this time-frame. If you did not purchase a Field Day Tee Shirt for your child, you may want to consider having them wear a shirt that can be ‘written on’(preferably red) – as it have become custom to ‘autograph’ each other’s tee shirts on that day. Please send your child to school with a water bottle on that day as well.
Friday, May 20 – Eastvalley Movie Night – 6:30 PM
Come join the fun, as the Eastvalley Foundation presents “Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Part 1)” on the back lawn of the school. Movie will begin at dusk. This is not specific to the fifth grade. It is open to all families at Eastvalley.
Tuesday, May 24 – Fifth-Grade Picnic at Terrell Mill Park
The children and their teachers will depart Eastvalley (by foot) at 8:30 AM, and make their way over to Terrell Mill Park, where they will enjoy a morning of Kick Ball, and other activities, ending with lunch. The children can either bring a ‘bagged’ lunch, or they can purchase a ‘bagged/boxed’ lunch from the cafeteria on that day. PARENTS – We would love for you to attend this event! If you attend, we ask that you bring a “dish to share” with the rest of the parents. It could be anything from mini sandwiches, salads (green, vegetable, chicken, fruit, etc.), or a dessert. If your “dish” requires serving utensils, or paper goods, please bring them as well. (If you have questions on this, please do not hesitate to email me back or Sue Larsen) You are welcomed to join any time between 9 and 12. The children will begin walking back to Eastvalley at approximately 12:30. Additionally, please note that there will be early dismissal on this day – between 1:15 and 1:30.
Wednesday, May 25 – Last Day of School - Events as follow:
11:00 – 11:30 – Fifth-Grade Awards Ceremony – Held Outdoors, in the back of the school!
f your child is receiving an award, you will receive an invitation to this portion of the day’s festivities. Again, this will be held outdoors, in the back of the school. Please bring lawn chairs, and/or blankets to sit on.
11:30 – 12:30 – Fifth-Grade LUNCHEON - Held Outdoors in the back of the school! All parents/grandparents/family members invited to attend! Zaxby’s will be catering this luncheon. You will be receiving an order form in your child’s Tuesday Tracker next week. If you do not order from Zaxby’s, you are welcomed to bring a lunch. Please bring lawn chairs, blankets, etc., to make yourselves comfortable - as we will be sitting on the back lawn of the school for this luncheon.
1:00 – Fifth Grade “Walk of Honor”- Back inside the school…The children make their final trek (as Eastvalley Fifth Graders) through all the halls of the building. The other grades come outside their classrooms to watch, and bid them farewell and good luck! You may come into school, and watch this special ‘walk’. (You may want to bring tissue! J)
Please note, also, that the last day of school will also be an early dismissal day – between 1:15 and 1:30. (Stay tuned for specific time details on that.)
This summarizes the key events for the remainder of the school year. I will be sending several reminders about these festivities as each event draws nearer.
Please feel free to email me, or contact me, should you have any questions.
Thank you,
Chris
