Reading
- Distinguishes among letters, words and sentences in print, identifies front/back cover of book, top and bottom of the page, track print from left to right and top to bottom
- Identifies all upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet
- Retells several important details from a story, including beginning and ending
- Consistently distinguishes rhyming and non-rhyming words and produces rhyming words
- Consistently blends and segments syllables in spoken words
- Identifies and produces all consonant sounds
- Consistently produces and matches all 5 short vowel sounds
- Consistently blends sounds or reads automatically
- Reads 30 or more sight words
Writing
- Prints first name beginning with uppercase followed by lowercase letters
- Accurately prints all upper and lower case letters introduced during the first three quarters
- Consistently and independently uses left to right pattern of writing and begins to use punctuation
- Writes sentences using phonetically written words to describe familiar persons, places, objects, or experiences
Math
- Writes numerals through 20 to label sets
- Produces models for number words through ten
- Sequences and identifies using ordinal numbers (1st-10th)
- Identifies and names the value of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
- Makes fair trades between pennies and nickels AND pennies and dimes
- Combines basic figures to form other basic or complex figures and decomposes basic and complex figures into basic figures
- Extends a given pattern and recognizes similarities in different patterns
Science and Social Studies
- Sorts materials into categories based on composition (clay, cloth, paper, plastic) and physical attributes (color, size, shape, weight, flexibility, texture)
- Describes and groups rocks according to their physical attributes (large/small, heavy/light, smooth/rough, dark/light)
- Independently identifies and describes Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Presidents’ Day
- Independently identifies and explains the national monuments
- States 4 or more of the following: street address, city, county, state, nation, and continent
