3rd Grade Remediation - Those students that did not pass the Reading portion of the CRCT will begin their remediation classes next week. Mrs. Baker will be the remediation teacher this year. More details will come as they are available.
Next Week's Activities - Check the note that is coming home with your child tomorrow!!!
Spelling - Students are still continuing to work on their mastery of the 3rd grade high priority words. Those students that were working on vocabulary packets will be assessed on the high priority words for Week 5 through 10 this Friday. If they've mastered those words they will continue to be given vocabulary extension packets until the end of the school year.
Math - We are concluding our study of multi digit multiplication. If your child has not mastered the multiplication facts, this skill was very difficult. We have moved on to long division and will be quizzed on Friday over graphing (line plots only), multi digit multiplication and long division. Your child will need to practice these skills daily. This is a life skill that they need to conquer.
Multiplication Sundaes - See the note that came home for the date. Your child will be bringing home a slip that tells you the item that has been requested for your child to bring. All items need to be at school by Friday, May 13th so that I have to time to buy the items that are missing. This is always one of my students' favorite end of the year events. They've worked hard - let's help them celebrate. Let me know if you have time to come in and help us with this.
Social Studies - We just finished writing a rap about Lyndon Baines Johnson yesterday. Each child was assigned a specific verse. They need to have their verse and the chorus memorized by the end of next week. Click on the link to get a copy of the rap so that your child can practice at home. We fine tuned our lyrics on Thursday - here's the latest and greatest version of our script: Download LBJ Rap - student scripts I am trying to get the presentation perfected to see if we could perform it for the school during the morning news segment. You can't imagine how much fun the students are having learning this rap.... and don't tell them.... but they're learning at the same time.
Science - We are returning to the topic of magnets. Students will be working with partners to create a magic trick that involves the use of magnets. For students that want to extend this unit at home, they may create their own individual magic trick. Remember - magnets must be used to create the trick/illusion.
