Jan Brett is one of my favorite authors. Her book "The Mitten" has been a focus as we study the season of Winter. We learned new vocabulary, played winter clothing lotto, and created a mitten into which all of the animals crawled, just like the story in the book. In Mrs. Orr's class we have also been studying the water cylce. We have read wonderful books including "The Water Cycle" by Helen Frost, "Rain and Hail" by Franklyn Brantley, "Rain" by Joy Palmer and "Stormy Weather" a BIG Science Scholastic book. Today in Miss Friedman's room we reviewed the regions of Georgia. We read "Baby Bear Discovers the World" by Marion Bauer with wonderful photography by Stan Tekiela. We made black bears and put them on a mountain in the hallway. It reminds us of how they live in the mountains of Georgia.
