We began our school year talking about friendship and what better story to hilight this concept but the "Rainbow Fish." We focused on many learning activities. Some of those activities include story retell, learning new vocabulary, answering comprehension questions about the story, and making our own lovely colored rainbow fish. A really fun activity was watching the National Georgraphic Kids Video called "Deep Sea Dive." The scenery was beautiful, the music was lovely and it was really scary when we saw the sharks! Our final project was the creation of an ocean scene in the hallway. The Cobb County standard for these activities is: SKCS6c Know the Needs of Living Things.
We have also been talking about fall and apples. We've read several books such as "Apples Apples Apples" by Nancy Wallace. We have sung songs, looked at a power point focusing on attributes of apples, talked about the category of fruit. We finished with a taste test of apple juice and apple sauce and created a graph to show our results. The Cobb County standard for these activities is: MKD1 Students will pose questions and gather data about themselves and their surroundings
