Fourth and Fifth Grade,
We had a busy week working on our Time Magazine's Hero of the Year projects. Each group has created a pursuasive essay, poster, and skit to share with the class. Will the reporters "vote" for your nominee? You will need to do your best at pursuading them and teaching them why you believe your person has shown courage in their lifetime.
We have a big week coming up! On Monday, we have an exciting opportunity to hear Mr. Terrance Roberts. He is a member of the Little Rock Nine, one of the first to integrate Central High in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1957. Mr. Roberts is the grandfather of PJ Goodloe, one of our fourth grade Target students. He truly is an example of someone who has shown courage in their lifetime, and we are eager to hear his story.
This Tuesday, May 7, is our field trip to the Cyclorama in downtown Atlanta. Please wear an Eastvalley shirt if you have one. Mrs. Covington will come and get you when it is time to leave. Be on time to school because we will leave shortly after the morning announcements. Remember, you have already ordered a voucher
(ticket) to use when you arrive at The Varsity for lunch. You do not need to bring anything with you, unless you have a light jacket or sweater.
WEEKLY QUESTION: Write down three questions that you'd like to ask Mr. Roberts on Monday. Think about the information that you learned in class this week. I will be expecting you to ask at least one of them during our time with him on Monday. If you'd like to read more, check out the following:
