Happy Holidays from Mrs. Covington and family!
Wishing all of you and your families a wonderful holiday season. I am thankful for all of my Target students and their parents. Thank you for all you do to support your child's education. I appreciate you!
Enjoy your break. Please remember, I will be administering tests during the month of January to students in 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades. I will send you a note with our new schedule when it is time to resume Target classes.
Merry Christmas!
Love,
Mrs. Covington
Second and Third Grade,
Next week will be our last Target day until the end of January. As you know, another part of my job is to help identify gifted students. I will be testing in the month of January. After I finish testing, you will receive a letter stating your start date and your schedule for 2012.
You have been working hard with your group members to create a Bat ABC book on Power Point. We still need a few weeks to finish our illustrations and books, so we will wait and share them in January. I can't wait to see the final product!
We will have Target next week. However, there is no homework this week or Weekly Question. I look forward to seeing you next week for some more "batty" activities.
I hope you are enjoying the holiday season!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Covington
2nd Grade only: You do not need to bring your Target bag to school next Thursday. If you want to bring it, you may. However, Mrs. Clatterbaugh and I will not be checking journals or performance sheets. Happy Holidays!

We will be presenting our projects AFTER the winter break. Keep up the good work!

3. Gather your required research information and document your resources.
4. Type your information and find a small picture for your text box to cover.
5. Create your final project by assembling all your information and drawing your caricature neatly on your poster board. Color!!!
6. Prepare a short (less than a minute) monologue. MEMORIZE! Be prepared to share your speech with your classmates. Prepare your costume. You will dress-up as your person on the day of your presentation.
Next week, we will practice our monologues in class. Bring your note cards and information to class so we can practice.

HOMEWORK reminder for 5th grade: One person in your castle group should be typing up your 16 labels for your castle. You may need to bring in toothpicks to attach your labels. Next week is your LAST construction day, it should be for final touches!
Target Eligibility and Testing
The following Power Point reviews the eligibility process and qualifications for the Target program. Please take a moment to review.
All parents will be notified once this evaluation process is completed. Thank you for your patience.
We had a great day of learning today! Although we started a little late due to Checkpoint Testing, I am proud of what you accomplished in class. Did you enjoy working with your ABC Bat Book groups? Please come prepared next week to finish your Power Point presentations. If you need to research any information, please do that for homework.
Remember, your GBR project for this nine-weeks is your ABC Bat Book group project. Be thinking about how you will make your presentation unique and creative. Perhaps you and your group members will want to wear costumes, bring in a special food or snack, or have visuals to help you share your information.
