Hi Eastvalley Family,
Wow! March is here already! Sometimes it seems like yesterday when school started and sometimes it seems like years ago. It's amazing to be in classrooms and see the difference a few short months will make. The children have all grown so much, both physically and academically. They are so much more confident in themselves and their work!
It's March MATHness here at Eastvalley! It's time for all students to focus on learning math facts and gaining a deeper understanding of math concepts. One way they can do this is to log on to First in Math every day and practice the skill sets. Practice, practice, practice is how you learn math facts. Knowing the basic facts for their grade will help them as the math gets more complex. If they are still counting on fingers or toes or whatever, it slows them down and makes them lose focus on the problem at hand. So, take the time this month to really work on math facts!
Happy Birthday to Eastvalley! We are celebrating the 50th year of Eastvalley's existence this year. PTA is planning a sock hop (do children even know what this is??) for Saturday, March 26th here at the school. The Varsity restaurant will be here serving food and great music will be played throughout the evening. The famous basket raffle will be held during this event so come ready to take a chance on your favorite baskets! I hope all of you will mark your calendars to come out and celebrate this monumental occasion with us!!
Some sad news for all of Eastvalley...Mr. Martin Landry, husband of our retired teacher, Paula Landry, passed away last Saturday while they were visiting family in Louisiana. I know that all the children knew Mr. Landry as he was always around volunteering in the art classroom. He was a kind, gentle man who loved children and loved Eastvalley. We hope that you will keep Paula and her children in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. The memorial service will be at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6th at the First United Methodist Church in Smyrna, Georgia.
Have a great week!
