Hi Eastvalley Family,
I know, I know, it's only April, but we are already thinking about summer! Why? Well, Eastvalley is undergoing a major construction project thanks to your SPLOST dollars. I wanted everyone to know what will be happening to our school during the summer weeks. Before we break for summer, all teachers and staff members (yep, even me!) have to pack everything in our classrooms and offices. Technology will be removed and stored elsewhere in the county while the construction is taking place.
On the construction list will be:
1. Sprinklers throughout the building
2. New lighting throughout the building
3. A new clock system throughout the building
4. New flush valves in all the bathrooms
5. A new hot water heater
6. A new sidewalk and awning that will go from the from the front door all the way to the gym ( a beautiful design too!!)
7. New sidewalks and awnings to all the trailers
8. A new fire road to allow access of a firetruck during an emergency to the back of the school
We are so excited that all of these improvements will be taking place here at Eastvalley. Unfortunately, it does mean the building will be completely shut down to everyone. I actually will be working at another school this summer because I will not be allowed in my office. What that means for you is that you will not be able to come up during the summer to pick up any records or register your child on any given day. Please let us know of any requests for records by May 13 so we can get records to you if needed for transferring to another school. If you call the school during the summer, the phone calls will be transferred automatically to my "summer" office. Please understand that I cannot access any records if you call me over the summer. We'll have to wait until we are allowed back in to the school after construction is complete to get those records.
Registration cards are being sent home today with your child (grades K-4). It is important that you fill out those cards and return them to your child's teacher by Friday, April 29. Please fill out both sides and sign the back of the card. If your child is not returning to Eastvalley next year, please write their name on the card and "NOT RETURNING" so we will know not to put them on a class list. The envelope that the card is in needs your current address written on the outside by you and 4 United States postage stamps affixed so we can mail the final report card home to you. Remember, you will not be able to come pick up report cards because the office will be closed for the summer.
We will have a registration day for new students July 27 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. We have been told we will be allowed in the cafeteria only on that day to get registration done. If you have a new Kindergartner to register or know someone who wants to register their children, you/they can come to the office any day before May 25 or they can wait until July 27 to register. Please bring: certified copy of birth certificate, Social Security card, Immunization form, Vision, Hearing and Dental form, 2 proofs of residency in the Eastvalley attendance zone and picture ID. Any records (report cards, testing) from a previous school would also be very helpful if the child is entering any grade except Kindergarten. Please call the office if you have other questions about registration (770-578-7214).
Have a great week!
